St Peter's College, Gampaha

St. Peter's College Colombo 04,-Gampaha Branch (Sinhala: සාන්ත පීතර විදුහල, Tamil: செயிண்ட் பீட்டர் கல்லூரி) is a boys-only primary to secondary (inclusive) branch school of St Peter's College, Colombo in the Udugampola zone of Gampaha, Sri Lanka, founded in 1993.
==History==

With the verbal approval of Minister of Higher Education Lalith Athulathmudali, the Rector of that period, Fr. Joe Wickramasinghe, suggested opening a branch school of St. Peter’s College at Gampaha. It was inaugurated by Oswald Gomis, auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, on 2 February 1993 in the Holy Cross Church Premises.
At the start there were only two teachers, Mrs. Deepika Peiris and Mrs. Sarojini Perera. Thilak Rodrigo, was the first principal of the college. There were forty-six children pupils. Fr. Joe Wickramasinghe was the Rector.
On 9 September 1994 Fr. Felician Perera became rector, and improved facilities. In 1994 the student population increased to 87 students with 06 teachers. Previously the children in Gampaha travelled to Colombo schools; the new school enabled them to stay in their own district. The College's students sat for G. C. E. (O/L) Examination in 1998.
On 25 October 2003 St. Peter’s College Udugampola Branch was opened.
By 2005 there were classes from grade 6 to advanced level with the Arts, Science, Maths, and Commerce streams. Fr. Siri Cooray, the principal of the school, died, and was replaced by Fr. Anton Ranjith, and later Fr. Chaminda Wanigasena.
